The Pavilions are a couplet of 10-storey retirement village towers overlooking the sweeping curve of Kirra Beach.
The Pavilion buildings are situated on the corner of Lang Street and Golden Four Drive, Bilinga. The two-stage project that will see the ground planes of two retirement buildings connected, with integrated community facilities. This will also connect to a public lane providing health related services to the residents and general public. The Pavilion building forms take their cue from the Gold Coast vernacular. It is highly articulated by balconies, coupled with vertical elements extending into portals at the top level of the building. The top and vertical elements of the building area also adorned with an interpretation of breezeblock screens, acting as western sunshield, rooftop enclosure and balcony headpiece. These screens create an external rhythm with obvious references to past buildings in the area. The building entry is off Lang Street and extends as a central spine through the two buildings. This spine is bisected by a public lane axis from Golden Four Drive. Retail and health tenancies face the street and the public lane. Overall, the projects are conceived as places for the communal interaction for residents and members of the wider community. The built form portrays an openness and sense of colourful engagement with the street and surrounding buildings.
